Samsun Museum will exhibit archaeological and ethnographic heritage of the black sea region. The museum is located within the long green belt which lies almost uninterrupted along the coast of Samsun city. It is thought of as an experience spot within this recreational green belt. The aim was to keep the continuity and linearity of the flow within the coastline. Lines aligned with the coastline define the guidelines for the walls located side by side. These thick walls with different heights both define the circulation and exhibition spaces between them and they house the exhibit items within their thicknesses. The visitors follow a continuous line of exhibition passing through halls with different ceiling heights. The walls and roofs in between these walls appear as continuous landscape elements along the green belt. The roof of the museum is the facade of the building which can be perceived from the steep hillside next to the coastline.
The museum has temporary and permanent exhibition halls as well as workshop areas, conference hall, offices, gift shops and cafes.
Walls both define exhibition halls and house exibition surfaces and units.
